The format is dresden:vol-N:slug — for example dresden:vol-1:about-farming-in-illinois. URLs change. Hosts migrate. Forks happen. The identifier is the one piece of metadata that survives all of those.
Where it lives
- The JSON-LD on every work page.
- The OAI-PMH 2.0 record at
/api/oai-pmh/get-record/<slug>.xml. - The BibTeX and RIS exports under
/works/<slug>/downloads/.
How to use it
- In a footnote. Write the URL for ease and the identifier for permanence: … (Dresden Edition, Vol. 1, 1900). Stable identifier: dresden:vol-1:about-farming-in-illinois.
- In BibTeX. The identifier is already in the
note field of the per-work .bib export. - In a database. Use it as the primary key when you store references to works on this archive — it's deterministic; URLs are not.
- In a fork or mirror. The identifier still points at the same work, so a clone of the corpus rehosted at a different URL still resolves.
